Hello! Me and my friends very regularly switch around multiple different games and servers. As we like to mess around, we usually host our own servers. As some of us have better ping to eachother than others, we would like to host our servers from a datacenter of some sort. I want to be able to log on to a virtul machine as such and run the server that we want to play on. Once we were done with that game I want to be able to switch the server and say run a minecraft server from that same machine. Can anyone suggest the cheapest way of doing this? Thanks

I'm thinking that you have the source/client on your device that will be hosting the server. I recommend this VPS - [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] . It is a good deal, 14.99$ for a Linux server.

Yeah you'll want to be looking at a Virtual Private Server (VPS). They can be fairly costly, especially if you're looking to run high end game servers. The better the server you're wanting to run the better spec you're going to need. For example, running Minecraft on a Dual core CPU with 4GB RAM will be fine, but if you want to run something like say a BF4 server it'll struggle a bit which will cause it to lag.

Basically just do some small research and you'll be golden. Simple stuff really. Just shoot me a message if you get stuck with anything
