Recently I have been talking to my parents about getting my first car, ever since I have been able to know the difference between different types ive always had a very strong like for bimmers. Im mostly interested in the 3 series coupes such as the 330ci, 328ci, 325ci, and 323ci. Also with the automatic transmission(yes I know, say whatever you want but its my decision not yours). Does anyone know much about them? Any good/bad things to say, and recommendations, im very interested in these models but I want to know more first, any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!

I have two sedan BMW 3 series ( E46 body style ) which are 323i and a 328i.

Great vehicles there are lots of mods you can do for these cars too.

Don't get one of you think you cant afford maintenance costs because they aren't cheap.

bmw's come with a warranty that gives them free service for a few years, and there is nothing cheaper than free

New BMWs come with free service for 4 years not old one. Even though it's says free not everything is free with the new BMWs.

I would go for the 330 as it has the 3l engine making it a good choice imo if your looking for that. Owning a 330i myself costs towards keeping these cars running is quite expensive especially engine malfuncions so go in depth when looking at bmws.

I've had the privilege of working on various BMW's which is not easy to do might I add. I'll definitely say they're very reliable cars. If you buy a new one definitely take advantage of the warranty. Make sure you take it in for maintenance every time because let me tell you, once they aren't covered anymore they get pretty damn expensive. Mainly because a technician pretty much has to be certified to work on them so you can't just take them anywhere. My brother bought one used that wasn't covered by BMW and blew out 2 tires which cost him $300 a peice for new ones I shit you not. They're very nice cars though. I live near the BMW USA plant so I get to see them on a daily basis.

Update to what everyone is saying: I will be buying used, from 2000 to about 2006, I have about a $7,000 price range a the MAX. My grandpa owns a body shop that I can get most work done there if anything does happen. But on average whats know to go out most? And generally how often? Id mostly be using this for driving around town, and to school and back. I wouldnt be doing much long distance and I wouldnt be beating on it either, Itd just be a car to get me from one place to another.

Window Regulators.. had 3 go out on my 2001 525i, also thermostat is a common problem, plus sometimes the stock radio screen will break as in the letters will stay the same (have to buy a whole new radio).

Every new car comes with manufacturer warranty. It doesn't cover everything though.
