Where are you getting these parts from? What is your total budget and currency? Obviously the more expensive build is the better of those two, but you could probably spend your money wiser. Will you overclock CPU? How many monitors will you use? What will you use the PC for? Do you need peripherals within your budget?

If I had £3k for a PC, I'd be getting this;

More than enough CPU power to knock you nan out her rocking chair. Great quality PSU with more than enough wattage and it's fully modular so more aesthetically pleasing than a non modular unit, plus better airflow. 6.5TB of storage, including a 512GB SSD for fast boot/load times. Great case, especially for it's price. Fantastic CPU cooler, I have an X61 myself. 32GB DDR4 RAM will more than suffice. Oh, and 2 way SLI GTX 980's will make you cream yourself, no need for 3 way SLI. 2x 980's will handle 3/4 1080p monitors perfectly fine.
