I am on 8.0 and jail broken and everyone in a while my screen with go black but will still be on and the only way to get it out of that is to hard reset it does anyone know why this is happening?

Try to restore it with iTunes first.
If that doesn't fix it it could be water damage causing the problem. A lot of the times on water damaged phones, even if its very minor, you will have this problem. If that is the case, usually replacing the screen could fix the issue as long as the water damage isn't too bad.

I'm pretty sure it was a glitch with activator when I pressed the power button it happened and when I uninstalled activator it worked fine
