Is it just me or do publishers and game devs just pluck recommended pc specs for games out of thin air?
my pc is by no means the best for gaming but it does what I want it too. I cant justify paying out over 1000 for a computer when you cant use all its power.
the recommended specs for shadow of mordor are as follows
CPU:
Intel Core i7-3770 or AMD FX-8350
RAM:
8 GB
OS:
Windows 7 (64-bit only)
Video Card:
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 or AMD Radeon HD 7950
Sound Card:
Yes
Free Disk Space:
40 GB
my pc has
AMD FX4100 OC 4.3ghz
radeon HD7850 oc edition 2GB
8GB ram
so whilst playing I was watching my pc stats on the other screen.
all game settings are on high and the game still looks really nice.
however im not hitting 4GB ram let alone 8GB, my GPU is using 75-80% and the processor is reaching no more than 40%
I have the HD pack on and running at 2048 1556

It's usually safe to ignore "recommended specs" because they don't actually tell you anything about how the game performs. Benchmarks with different hardware do.

Yeah I'm sure there is some logic to the specs they put on the back of the box but in my experience I find the best recommended specs by browsing forums and checking out how other people are running the game.
