It was unlocked for everyone a while ago, I had unlocked it through doing the achievements and thought it was rubbish that people just got it for no reason.

Not sure what date you had to play it before in order to receive it.

It's no longer possible to get. Even if you were to get all the achievements now, you would not be able to use the 'unlock recon' button on the Bungie website.

They used to unlock It for everyone who played before a specific point, they stopped giving It to people around the time Halo 3 was the free game of the month as of right now there are no ways to unlock recon legitly and I don't think you can get It from someone with a jtag
