Do you have to flash your disk drive if you rgh your console ? What exactly is the purpose of a flashed drive?

DVD firmware flashing is by far the most common 'mod' that can be done to an Xbox 360. To put it very simply, firmware flashing lets your Xbox 360 play backup / copied games. It does not give your ANY other abilities, but being able to play backups (even online) is pretty great. Protecting your $60 original disc from damage.
