Buying my parts next week.
I know I could get away with a lower watt PSU and cheaper case, but that is what I'm going with that. Other than that, any thoughts or suggestions?

Save $80 on the case: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Haswell Refresh unlocked i5: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Better and cheaper RAM: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Not much cheaper, but it's of better-quality and 550w is more than enough: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

SSD: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

I'd suggest Windows 8.1 because it is faster. If you prefer 7, you can easily make 8.1 function like 7.

I'm not planning to overclock. Do I really need the aftermarket CPU cooler?

You don't but it will improve temps and make your build quieter.
