$15000 should be enough to snag a BMW M3 from the years 2000-2003 they are super quick cars and you luxurious on the inside you wouldn't even need any upgrades.

You could get a mazdaspeed 6 on craigslist for under 15k. It already comes with a factory turbo so that takes out a nice 2-3k depending on what upgrades you want to do to the car.

If you're looking for a convertible, you could go with a 2005-2006 BMW z4 or Nissan 350z, or an early model (2002-2004) Lexus sc430. The list of cars you could get for $10k or so and upgrade would be too long to make obviously, but make sure it's a reliable, while stylish, car. Watch the makes too. Japanese cars tend to last longer, BUT so will any car if it's properly maintained. Just an example, but my Lexus sc400 has the 1uzfe engine in it. The average life expectancy is 200k-300k. Though there are the ones that last much much longer, or the ones that are killed by their owners because of things like lack of oil. Just keep that in mind. Can't really buy based on mileage, need to know the background, records, etc. But you have a decent sized budget so you will probably not end up with a very high mileage vehicle. Good luck.

You can find one on craigslist in the $10k range! Maybe lower. The GTO is easily modifiable and with the right mods, the car can be an even bigger monster than it already is.
I agree wit this post. A GTO would be one of the quickest cars you could buy with $15,000. I would look into the 2006 model not the 2004 though.

coming from a jeeper, Get a wrangler. spend like 5-9k or however much and then you WILL want to do a lot of stuff to it so that leaves a lot of money for a lift, regearing for the lift, new and bigger tires.

If he goes with an acura, get an Acura Rsx type S. Not the best car at all, but it can and does out perform the integra.

Maybe if you're a chick... Would have to be a first gen to make it worth while. DEFINITELY not an early 2k model...
