Was he hallucinating?
My dad broke his neck when he was younger, but none of that's ever happened to him

It would be nice to believe there is life after death, but I am not so easily convinced.
Anyway interesting story makes you think about things.

All that and he still lives? I think he's telling the truth.

It could have been a hallucination, when you die or get near to death your body/brain releases a ton of natural occurring DMT. DMT is like a hallucinogenic and could have been the cause to what he experienced.

Try to get it checked out at a therapist or a doctors office

There are a lot of people who claim to have out of body experiences, ESPECIALLY when they have a near death experience. But I don't believe there is any way to prove that it's all true.

I'm guessing the impact he had affected his brain. In the restaurant his brain may have gone through the same scenario and reacted in a similar way.

I think something in his brain has caused this to happen twice. It's almost as if he is hallucinating/thinking he has left his body, when he most likely hasn't.

Just a trick his brain is doing, would be my guess.

EDIT: As someone above stated, I also think it may have something to do with the amount of DMT that is released when you have a near death experience. When we get too much DMT, we hallucinate and see/feel things which we normally wouldn't notice.

It can be very powerful and trick your mind into thinking something is real/happening when you are not doing anything at all.
