right, i have a desktop computer got it for free and i get around 30fps on minecraft with settings low and using optifine! heres my specs:

Processor: Intel(R)Core(TM)2 CPU 6300 @ 1.86GHz 1.87GHz
RAM: 4GB (3.00 GB Usable)
Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit
and my Grapihics card is only 258mb or something and its NVIDIA Geforce

i was thinking of getting a upgrade to 1gb video card not sure witch one though maybe this one? [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Too be fair a modern laptop has more power than that and I believe that minecraft is entirely based of, of your CPU ;)

And don't get offended or anything but I just don't think it's worth upgrading, you might aswell save up some money and completely upgrade

Hope I have been some help to you ;)

Minecraft is a lot more demanding than people give it credit, yes having a better CPU helps, but also having a decent GPU helps. A friend of mine has an i5 system and it uses a poo GPU as it is an ordinary PC. He gets about 60fps on medium/high settings. I take my R9 270X round to his and he gets 150+fps on highest settings. I myself run an AMD FX-6300 and when I had Minecraft i was getting 150+ constantly.

OP it depends on your budget really, and then on your power supply. The processor will work with a graphics card and you can just drop one straight in.

If you read off the make and model off the side of the power supply then we can tell you if you'd need a better one for more hardcore components.
