Excuse my ignorance, but how would a 750 watt psu potentially set this PC on fire? Or is it just an exaggeration for how much of an overkill that psu is for these parts?

Good point, CIT sounds like a cheap knockoff of the Chinese aftermarket.

When a power supply company resorts to using wattage as a selling point its a pretty strong indicator its bad. When a company like Corsair, XFX or Seasonic turn round and say: "well this costs more for the same, but has XYZ protection" then you know its worth it.

If a 750w is cheaper than a well known couple of brands 450w units, its not that the well known ones are rip off's its that its too good to be true.

Just goes to show, you should research before buying. OP send it back if you can.
