The general discussion usually consists of the obvious of being topic that their topics just don't fit in other sections. If you don't like the general discussion, don't go on it. Simple as that. Best regards.

Im fine with it, its when people post the same topic like an hour later. Then it starts to get out of hand

No it's not, and based on your premise, that means we should essentially dump stupid, unmeaningful threads that are posted numerous times over a period of a few days in there.

We have a fantastic search function which is dreadfully underutilized, people should really use it and help rid of us the repetitive garbage we so commonly see. They are too lazy to I guess, and 99% of the time, their problem or question has already been answered and would wield a solution, answer or opinion a lot faster than when posting another thread asking the same thing. It really defies logic.

The section is not supposed to be a dumping ground and wasteland of stupid topics, but sadly it is, and for as long as I can remember, always has been. Although it's a section for talking about anything that doesn't have a dedicated section, that doesn't mean that anything should be posted there. It should be to a certain standard and quality and of course adhere to site and board rules.

It's not the staff's fault at all, and from experience I can tell you, especially at peak times it's near impossible to keep up with all the garbage in that section as it's coming in so much faster than it can be dealt with. All we can do is report any unruly behaviour and let the staff get on with it when they can.

I will say that when the board rules were being enforced heavily, there was certainly a reducement in people acting like idiots, it was a good deterrent. I feel that from time to time the site, section and members can benefit from this approach from time to time when things start to get stupid there. The section was also helped when it was moved down to the bottom of the forums navigation page, there was less activity, ergo less spam. It killed a lot of momentum there though and it was too dead, and people would obviously just continue to put these topics elsewhere in different sections. There's really no winning to be honest, the staff can enforce the rules, but they cannot force people to follow them.

I guess it's a necessary evil, with it, it's a mess in there but it contains most of the garbage and without it the garbage spills out elsewhere. I guess my advice would be try not to get frustrated and just report anything unruly you see.
