So let me get this straight. If you don't sign in to Xbox Live for a 24 hour time period on the new console you can't play games anymore? Why is this? And is that true?

Originally the Xbox One was going to have a requirement where it would have to be connected to the Internet at least once every 24 hours. Meaning that if you didn't connect it after 24 hours, it would lock up until it connected again. This was to check to see I you owned the games you had because there was going to be features such as family sharing, which allowed you to share games with your friends digitally. It also meant you could play your games without the discs and a lot of other really cool features. So the Internet check every 24 hours was just to make sure the games you were playing really were yours, because when you bought them they would be licensed to you. Sadly though people didn't realise this and they whined and complained until Microsoft went back on it. So no, Xbox one will not need to connect to the Internet every 24 hours. It will once when you set it up, but after that, never again.
