I have had the same modem for like 6 years since i first got Internet so if i get a better or upgraded and newer one, will it speed up my Internet? Recommendations would be great if it will as well.

P.S. i didnt know where to post this.

Well, I have one question, if your modem provided to you by your ISP?

If the answer is YES, then yes, getting the latest modem your ISP provides will help with your internet; however, not necessarily the speed. it will be slightly faster, but the main difference you would notice would more than likely be less packet loss and faster pings.

In terms of true speed, you will need to purchase a faster allowance from your ISP; however, you still should get the latest modem from your ISP (if they provide one) every year or so.

it wouldnt just speed up your internet it would optimize it so you would loose as many packets whilst the connection is on resulting in a minimal loss of connection speed

it would also speed your connection up vastly as it uses a more secure connection that might send packets faster or your bandwidth might be increased judgeing by who your isp is

About 1 year ago i upgraded my modem via TalkTalk and before the upgrade i got a consistent 1.3mb/s on steam after i upgraded my modem to a smart sharing router my connection fluctuates between750kb/s and 1.4mb/s, is sped up my internet but it also made it less reliable, i wouldnt upgrade it if i was you.

Get an Ethernet cord and plug it in directly to the modem. My xbox speed is fast and smooth.
