Has anyone noticed that there has been an increase in asteroid flybys lately? what's up with this? Is something big on the way?

I highly doubt there has been an increase in fly bys of "asteroids"

The meteor that hit Russia has caused the media to cover more of the meteoroids/asteroids that pass by us...

I study Astronomy, and I have not noticed any such increase.

And no, nothing "big" is on the way.

We can actually map and predict every single meteorite, whether or not they will hit the Earth, where they will hit, when they will hit, etc. For thousands of years.

The closest call there will be to a meteor that could threaten life on Earth is not for, if my memory serves me correctly, around 400-500 years, I could be wrong with that, but not for hundreds of years nonetheless! And it won't even hit the Earth, it will just pass by very closely.

..You worry too much.
I have found that it's horrible to worry about everything in life, much less meteors or asteroids. If something happens, it happens. Me worrying isn't going to change the trajectory or make a parachute appear if I fall off of the largest structure on Earth.

They might just be more noticeable. I think we have been on the look out more for them lately and they might be bigger or easier to see.
