Hello, yesterday i accidently pulled the plug for my pc out of the socket while the pc was on, and now when i try to try on my pc it turns on for literally a millisecond and switches off, does this mean my PSU is fried/broke?
Any help would be much appreciated.

Try unplugging all connectors from the motherboard and then plugging them in again. Hopefully you will not have to buy a new unit.

It could also be the hard drive. A PC should never just be disconnected from power - if you can avoid it that is.

Unplug everything and then plug it back in. If you have one, try another hard drive.

if it were the motherboard which was the problem, what would be the common symptoms?

Open the case of your computer and take a look at the capacitors. If it is the board this will be one of the most prominent issues when it comes to a power problem if that make sense. Any who, evaluate the "caps" for any broken tops/busted lids; if you do find some that will tell you its the motherboard. However this isn't the only indicator that it's the motherboard, there is millions of different ways a board can short out; this is just the biggest one I've seen in my line of work.

Now I have a few questions for you, when you boot on the unit do you receive any type of beeping noise, or error messages? Also do you see your bios splash screen further known as "the pop-up with the manufacturer of the computer's name on it".

If you can get back to me with any of this information I may be able to further assist you.
