I made my own server last night for myself and a few friends, I'm just wondering if there is any way to let my friend host my server while I'm not on, I don't really want to keep my computer on all the time just to host, especially when I'm at work.

Short Answer: Nope.
You friend would not be able to remotely operate your computer if you had turned it off at all. If you left your computer on all the time, he could potentially turn the server on/off when not in use.
