Its been taken apart. We did everything. Cotton swap did not work. It worked one time and the way we got it to work was keep opening and closing the disk drive but now its not working when we do that. So I think he is just going to get a new one and i might just buy a dvd drive and see what i can do. Thanks to everyone trying to help I really appreciate it.

Do NOT buy a new disc drive and try to fit it, it wont work. You need a dvd key or w.e, which youre better off staying away from. Just get an old second hand xbox for dirt cheap.

I have the same problem.

All I do is bash the top.
