Once again, I'll refer you back to my previous post. In Britain, the last mass shooting at a school was 40 years ago. We haven't had one since we put a ban in place afterwards. Yes, there's always going to be psychotic murderers out there, but, I'd feel much safer if I knew those phycho's didn't have a gun in their hand (which I do feel safe because I know they can't go to the nearest store and pick up an assault rifle).

Point is, you Americans can sit back and just watch these mass shootings of innocent kids go on and at the end of the day, all you care about are your guns. I mean, how many more shootings of presidents or innocent people will it take before you ban them?

What good is that doing for you guys. Sitting back and watching kids die? And it isnt easy just to get rid of guns, there would be so much more problems.

Ugh, why can't you ignorant people comprehend that if there were no guns, you wouldn't need guns to protect yourselves. Yes, it'll be difficult, but surely that's better in the long run?

What about all the guns that people already own? You think the military is going to rush into millions of peoples homes and find every gun and destroy it? Just the thought scares me. The riots and protests would be insane.. No need to call us ignorant when we are just debating.

I have no idea how the American government would handle banning guns. But they should do it. Blah blah blah it's against my rights. What about those kids who were shot innocently? They HAD rights, and now, because some crazy kid was able to buy a gun at a store, took away their rights.

Okay, I'm going to give you a hypothetical question, say one of your parents, or close relatives was shot dead for NO reason, would you be or against guns? Give me an honest answer.

Yea um I know for a fact a KID did not just walk up into a gun store and buy a gun. He got it from someone. And yea that kind of stuff happens, and I would be pretty upset but we can't just go out and ban every single gun. People die from illegal and legal drugs too, so how do we go about stopping that? All I know is changing the Constitution would make Americans furious. Why don't we just go back to school security, since so many killings are happening at schools now?

Actually, gun show loopholes. You can literally walk up to a guy at a gun show and buy 10 AR-15s without background checks, a drivers license, or proof of residency. All you have to do is show him the money. If drugs were legalized and regulated, there would be less ODs. Patriot Act and NDAA got rid of our 1st amendment. Americans didn't care. So our schools should be more like third world countries? Where your kids can get shot for being kids.

After reading doing a google search about gun show loopholes, I found that regulated gun shows require background checks for gun purchases. You can buy guns illegally from alot of places though. It's the same with any other illegal thing in the U.S.

Yahoo answers is opinionated. The other site isnt really credible since its a sub domain.

All you have to do is go up to a person selling from his "private collection" and buy the guns. You do not have to have a license to sell your guns at a gun show(in most areas).

NOTE: I have looked for the specific clip about the Vangaurd documantery and only found this clip. I do NOT always share views with current and the young turks.

People would buy AR-15s illegally if gun bans were placed on them. Some things you just can't stop. Gun bans = enraged Americans who want their 2nd Amendment, no protection for people that were actually responsible with their guns before the ban, and an advantage to bad people that buy guns illegally.

Why would a law abiding citizen break the law and buy an AR-15 if its illegal? Then they would become criminals. Even if Americans get enraged, they wont do anything. Proof: NDAA, Patriot Act, Backdoor bailouts, etc. You can still protect yourself with a hand gun or a shot gun. If bad people had to go through a background check and mental health check, im pretty sure the wont pass. Also, 40% of guns sold are bought using the loophole. If you got rid of the loophole and be required to run background checks less criminals would get guns.

Law abiding citizens want protection. If all guns were banned, you would have to get them illegally, not just AR-15s. Are you against people having guns at all? I can't tell what side you are on because you keep talking about how easy it is to get a gun, which is not the topic.

They wouldn't be law abiding if they break the law. As you can see by my previous posts, I'm only talking about assault rifles. I don't have to be on either side to know that its extremely easy to get a gun with the current laws.

Cause it violates our rights in the amendments. (I think it's the second) all citizens have the right to bear arms

Fold wrote See but I sometimes wonder, are all of these events completely independent, or does each shooting just encourage the next.

They do encourage the next. It's a certainty. It's they way human psychology works. You see a dark, depressed character commit mass homicide. He/She, temporarily, gains mass fame and attention, and despite the fact that it is negative, people in a similar situation think, "I'm on the brink of suicide anyway. Why not go out with a bang? Make some headlines?". They then commit the acts, they become famed, and then the next person becomes 'inspired'.

If the media stopped making the killers so well known, it would help. Ask people in the street if they know who Adam Lanza and James Holmes are. They will remember them. As evil, despicable people, but they are remembered nonetheless. Ask someone who Noah Pozner is, and a puzzled look will creep onto their face.

Because unconstitutional laws aren't laws. If the government creates laws that goes against the Constitution, we have every right to go against them. Abiding to the Constitution is the only lawful thing. The government's laws are secondary. If they happened to ban all guns, or even just one type of gun, you have every right to break that law. You would only be unlawful to the police. They have no authority to say what is lawful or not. They only enforce the laws. They took an oath to uphold the Constitution. Any law that goes against it is unconstitutional and they have no right to enforce. If they do enforce it, they are breaking the law. Unconstitutional laws aren't laws.
