I have actually not heard so much about the HD PVR 2, almost nothing :/

But I have some friends that records with the Elgato.

I own a HD PVR (1) myself, so I guess I'll have to compare it with that for now.

Just by looking at them, the Elgato is probably around 10 times smaller than the PVR.

The quality of the recorded clips is slightly better with the Elgato. But don't make that much of a difference.

You only have 3 cables with the Elgato, which is great, while the PVR have like a million cables, and it just looks messy..

The best thing I like about the Elgato, other than its looks, is that you don't have to get angry because you didn't record that specific killcam or that feed etc. since the Elgato saves the game anyway. Don't know for how long, but you will have no problem going back and record the clip you missed recording

As I mentioned before, I haven't tried or heard so much about the PVR 2, but the Elgato is an excellent recording device.
