My rant (this is not a huge one so dont hate) is that whenever someone sneezes, another person says bless you, the person responds thanks or thank you. Where is the "your welcome"? not huge but it was what used to be and just doesnt happen.....post below your thoughts

I don't understand the need for "You're welcome" in that situation. I personally don't understand "Bless you" in that situation, but I do do that at times to show manners or just being polite. Saying that extra line of "You're welcome" just seems like you are trying to have, or start, a conversation of them sneezing. I mean, of course you're welcome. Why would I say "Bless you" in the first place if I wouldn't welcome you. Not saying I never used "You're welcome", but it's very rare if I do.

Agreed. But bless you dates back to around medieval times.
They thought that evil spirits escaped you when you sneezed, or something similar.
Hence, "bless you".

It refers to when you sneeze, your soul leaves the body and saying bless you stops the Devil from claiming it.
It also means that when you sneeze it provides an opportunity for evil spirits to enter the body.

I believe that was Millhouse from the Simpsons.
IIRC "Bless you" is someone hoping you don't die from your cold from back in the day.

I think people say "bless you" because when you sneeze, your heart stops for a millisecond.

Hmm, I didn't know all the reasons for saying bless you, I thought it was just something people did.
