Considering that most, if not all, laptops can easily get RAM and CPU upgrades, why wouldn't it be practical for him to do it? It's about as easy as doing it to a desktop. To OP: If you want to upgrade your processor, you must know the model of your computer to look up what the socket is. Also, it is directly listed on your board right next to your processor. Then, just look up that socket and buy the processor you want. Keep in mind that just because the processor is compatible with your socket, doesn't mean it's compatible with your motherboard. You must do your research to find out if it is or not.
