I was outside with my dogs today walking through my yard and I started looking at this box that my dog had chewed up and realized it was an iPhone 5, so I started to search for the phone, because the charging cable and head phones were there so I expected the phone to be around, and I finally found it after 3 mins of searching. I am right now trying to figure out on how to unlock it, but first I was wondering if I need to activate it, and also is there a way for me to figure out the phone number of it?

It was probably your neighbors and your dog took it over... you should probably return it.

My closest neighbor is 5 mins away, and I have one of those invisible electric fences so my dogs can't leave the yard.

Not worth keeping, if the phone is reported stolen it will probably end up being locked and unaccesible just take it to the nearest police station and some stations will also leave it for 20-40 days and if it is unclaimed you might get to keep it!

Yeah that's a good idea.
Dont listen to those dumbasses. They just wish they had found it. If you can unlock it it doesn't matter if its reported stolen or not, you can still use it. Keep it, stream movies, watch YouTube videos, listen to music, play games. There's nothing wrong with keeping it.
