My friend gave me his HP Mini 110 to fix. Most likely he downloaded something not knowing it was a virus and destroyed his computer. He also did not make recovery discs. Of course, that would make it to easy for me.

If you try to boot it up regularly it gets passed the XP loading screen and just goes blank forever.

If you try to do last known good configuration same thing happens.

If you try ANY safe mode it will start to load but then freeze at mup.sys

I tried to restore it by making a bootable flash drive but that didn't work because it told me that there were missing files from the ISO. I used at least 3 different ISO's and got the same results.

Than trying to boot it up it told me that NTLDR is missing. So made a flash drive bootable with MS-DOS. Didn't work either.

So I am out of ideas completely. Usually im able to fix all the computers I get from people but this one is just stumping me.

ANY help will be greatly appreciated and will receive some +rep points!

Your best option (really) is to reinstall windows. You can pirate it or whatever you wish, but that is the best option.

In the post I said I tried 3 different ISOs to restore it but they didn't work.

Luckily the 4th one worked.

I knew a guy with this issue a few months back, as stated above, you are better off just reinstalling windows, if you have a dock for the HDD you can pull the user files off, scan them and try to recover his information. That can be rather time consuming though and if he doesn't have important/sensitive information he needs recovered I wouldn't worry about it, just focus on getting a clean boot first
