Basically i've downloaded a graphics pack which has brushes in one of the folders (bear with me now i'm still learning to use photoshop), now the brush that i want to use has 3 different formats .ai .eps .jpg ok so first attempt i open the .eps file in photoshop rasterise it flatten the image and use the rectangle marquee tool to select the area around the brush i click Edit > Define Brush Preset and save the brush when i go to use the brush it has part of the brush but also the background which i do not want, so attempt number 2 i open the .eps file as a smart object repeat the steps taken in attempt 1 and still end up with the same result so attempt number 3 and i manage to separate part of the brush with the wand tool then layer via copy but i don't have all of the brush.

So 3 attempts & several google searches later i'm here looking for advice from your collective genius
