If it requires modification to the android software this usualy voids the warrenty.
its like that with almost every android phone so this could be the same as its very easy to brick a android device with a simple task such as rooting

yes but they say that hacking the console will not void your warranty. so you could have it right idk but thats what they said.

Most likely it will be void if you break it trying to modify the software but if a hardware failure occurs they might still cover it.

its very easy to brick a android device when doing modification to the software so i doubt they will cover it
Actually they said in a interview it will not void warrenty it encourages hackers/moddders

BUT! these guys from Boxer8 did something that sony and microsoft havent. and thats listen to the public and see what they want/need in a new console Small, Easy setup, nice layout, open for hacking, and newer and better technology. so yea.

>Small
Because it's a stripped down Andriod phone without the part that makes it a phone.
>Easy setup
So are PCs, Xboxs, Playstations, every portable device, ect.
>Nice layout
The dashboard looks like the 360's. Plus the d-pad on the controller is lulz worthy.
>Open for hacking
why would you advertise this? Hacking/modding is just a euphemism for easy to pirate. if ANY big publisher would put their game on ouya, they'll do it through onlive. (Which is a pay service)
so in the end the only thing the ouya accomplishes is kicking small game developers in the shin, should they choose to support this console.
>newer and better technology
It's less powerful than a low quality smart phone. How is that better technology?

This console looks really fun for casual gameplay, I don't think it will be a big competitor with something like an Xbox or PS3, but more of an add-on for minigames. It might make the android or idevice games suffer. I'm glad they are putting more design into the controller. The touch pad looks awesome, but maybe difficult to implement into games, like the kinect.

I viewed their Kickstarter and found this...

Hackers welcome.

Have at it: It's easy to root (and rooting won't void your warranty). Everything opens with standard screws. Hardware hackers can create their own peripherals, and connect via USB or Bluetooth. You want our hardware design? Let us know. We might just give it to you. Surprise us!

I am very exited.

its just going to be a lot of fun to see what people can do with this thing. i bet getting games free will be easy lol.

well how do you think alot of advances in technology happen? through hackers. because there are alot of very experienced coders out there who cant get a job at a big company and if they do they have to follow the design rules. so this way its all by imagination and thats how new discoveries are found.

Look, they can't market this as a full-fledged gaming console. It has mobile specs. It isn't even close to the power of Xbox 360, which is a 7 year old console. If anything, it's more like an Android-enabled HTPC.
