Corp Solo

This is intended to be the easiest (not the fastest) way to solo corp that I could find while still turning a profit:

Well, Ive decided its finally time to write a guide. Ive used countless guides written by other players and have always felt slightly guilty about never giving anything back to the community. Since I do enjoy soloing the corporeal beast and have learned quite a few tactics along my road to 500 solos I figured thats what my first (and likely only) guide would be for. There really arent many guides to pure soloing corp, and the ones I can find are out of date, unfortunately. The best one Ive found (though outdated) is a great starting point for people to learn. It was written by a player named Mugger 759. The QFC is : 98-99-820-62578213.

Whenever I do PvM in runescape (which is most of the time), I usually focus on two different approaches: 1. Fast, difficult, but very profitable (2m+/hr) and 2. Easy, but not as profitable. Unfortunately, scenario #1 doesnt exist in the world of corp soloing, but I found a method that works for #2 so I thought Id share it with anyone interested. Im not the first person to figure out that you can solo corp with goliath gloves (some low level folks were doing it quite soon after goliath gloves were out), however Im the only one I know that uses them as a reliable, profitable method for soloing the corporeal beast (there must be someone else whos figured this out).

The method:
Punch corp to death. Seriously

My method relies on the epic power of the goliath gloves. The goliath gloves have a very nice special effect that occasionally lowers the cb stats of your opponent by 7 every time the special activates, which is often enough to make them useful. Past methods of reliably soloing corp almost always included the use of a statius warhammer (SWH), which is extremely expensive (about 500k/solo for the hammer alone) and thanks to the introduction of goliath gloves, now unnecessary for corp

The reason why goliath gloves are so effective is due to the fact that corps defence AND mage are lowered during the fight by the goliaths specs, making it increasingly easier as the fight goes along for you to damage corp as well as avoid damage yourself. The introduction of ganodermic armor into the game made my method even easier than it was when I started way back in October (from Aug-Oct 2011 I was stuck with the cannon/SWH/zs method which is super expensive).

Using this method, here are my basic stats (average of ~350 kills using goliath method):

Best loot:
arcane sigil
Success rate: 99.2% (350 kills in 353 attempts with this method)
GP/kill : +224k (+72k if I dont include my arcane sigil drop).
- This includes subtracting all my costs for brews, gear, etc. so the method is surprisingly profitable average over many solos.
Solos/hr: 4 (making the minimum profit/hr around 250k/hr assuming some PvM skill, it was 1m/hr due to the arcane sigil drop)
Total solos: 450 (going for 500 total)
Brews/solo: about 4-5
Fewest brews/solo: 0. Though, not with this setup I was using the 'cheap' setup and got lucky with goliath specs early in the kill

Gear

Heres my basic inventory for each kill:

Dwarven helmet (+6/+5 crush att/mage def, but bring a fighter hat +5 crush att/-3 mage def if you swap to zs for 1/2nd half of the kill)
Fury
Ganodermic poncho
Virtus robe bottom
Dragon boots
Goliath gloves
Divine spirit shield (elysian is fine, eek/spectral/ddf would work but youll have less profit/kill)
Berserker ring (i)
TokHaar-Kal
Penance Aura

Inventory:
BGS, 1 overload, 1 prayer renewal, 3 monkfish, dominion marker 4, 100 dreadnips, 11 sara brews (4), 8 super restores (4), 1 games necklace.
I have a spirit terrorbird summoned with 4 brews inside

How to get there
Hop over to a non-ls world. Get my equipment on, put 4 brews on the bird, eat a couple tuna to boost lp from putting on virtus bottom, arrange my inventory then teleport to corp using the games necklace. Make sure Im in attack stance and auto-retaliate is on with curses activated.

Run to the entrance of the lair if anyone is inside I hop (you can right click on the entrance to peek in), if theyre outside then I ask politely if theyre going in or not. If all is clear, I activate penance, sip the overload and pray renewal, drop the games necklace then eat the monkfish. I take the brews from the terrorbird, activate prot item/prot mage/turmoil and run in. Attack corp when I see it and a few steps away from corp switch to prot melee.

When I am within melee distance, I place the dominion marker, equip my bgs, spec then switch back to divine and summon a dreadnip.

*Note: dreadnips are great to have at corp (theyll reduce its hp by 10-20% by themselves over a 15 minute period) but you must be aware that while summoning them, the interface screen blocks your inventory. Also, if you havent clicked to attack corp before attempting to summon one it wont let you and your inventory screen will still be blocked. I have almost been killed by having the interface screen block my invo then getting a nasty corp combo :/.

For the first of corps hp
For the first of corps hp:
Im punching away while soul split flashing as much as possible. I take three brew sips followed by one super restore sip every time my lp goes under 500. Ive only died three times in 350 solos using this method , twice I got brave thinking I could soul split back up above 500 (I was trying for a zero food solo) and once was a hysterically epic misclick.

Two choices
Two choices: 1.Switch to zammy spear and stun the core (youll need to bring zs/xbow/emerald (e) of course) or 2. Punch the core to death when it does appear. I love doing #2 simply because I hate the core with an undying passion - my 40+ deaths during my first 50 karils/zs solos were because of the friggin core, so I am exacting my sweet revenge now. I also find stunning the core to be a pain in the ass and simply killing the core is so much easier. If you like stunning and want a faster kill with more hassle then by all means go ahead. I was switching to a ring of wealth at the last second for a while but became convinced that its worthless so I no longer use it. Thats about it.

Three things to always do when soloing:
1. Soul split flashing as much as possible.
2. Correct deployment of dreadnips (dont forget to click-attack corp before trying to summon)
3. Brew when you drop below 500 lp. Always.

The most important technique you must master to become good at corp soloing is soul split flashing. Id recommend practicing for a good bit of time while on slayer tasks or fighting mithril dragons. You must use a weapon with goliath/zs speed (rapier, whip, korasi, etc.) in order for the timing to be right. Remember, if your timing is off, spam-click at the floor near your feet to disrupt the auto-retaliate then click on corp right before it attacks you to set up the proper timing.
Thats the absolute basics. I should have more to come later

Advanced techniques:
Advanced techniques:
- Swapping out 2 brews and 1 restore with 2 spec recover flasks and mithril crossbow speeds up each kill by around 2-3 minutes. This is more difficult than just using goliaths for the entire kill however it is faster for those who want more kills/hr.

- Use virtus top/bottom instead of ganodermic. In my experience, the cost/solo is around 70k higher for ganodermic top/bottom vs. virtus top/bottom (assuming you sell back the virtus), resulting in an additional +70k profit/kill with virtus if you are good at soul split flashing.
i'm a sucker for testing different combinations of gear/technique/inventory so I decided to make a list of good ideas suggested to me by other players. I'll run around 10 solos to get a good idea of how each different suggestion might work.

Gear/technique suggestions for me to try:
1. Bring super restores to continually bgs spec corp (idea from "G Mt":
- this is surely faster, for best profit/hr this is likely the way to go. It is more brews/solo but you make up for it in kills/hr.
2. Lower corp's defence with spellcaster gloves (I'll use a cheap spell). It lower's players def by 10% per spec, so it's like a uber-cheap statius warhammer on corp. I don't know if there is a limit on corp's stat reduction so I'll test to see.
3. Use dragon defender in the shield slot. Obviously this is a poor choice compared to ely/divine, but most people do not have those shields and aren't sure what to take.
- This works just fine, as long as you're skilled at fighting corp. I'd suggest people use this once they've got the whole scene down pretty good.

Unknowns:
Unknowns:
1. Goliath spec stat reduction - the actual amount on corp. I've begun to think that the stat reduction is more like -10% on corp. I've been counting the number of successful specs/solo and it's usually around 10. After 10 specs you really don't miss much, around the kind of hit/miss ratio as 3 statius warhammer specs. I think corp's defence is at least 300, so 10 goliath specs at 10% reduction would reduce corp's defence to ~105, whereas 3 stat specs reduces corp's defence to 103 (interesting how the math worked out like that). 10 specs at a reduction of 7 each is 70, which would be like one less statius spec. Anyone who remembers using stat warhammers on corp would know that 2 specs vs. 3 made a gigantic difference. I really don't know how to test the actual defence reduction on monsters, though......

Alternative setups:

Cheap but more difficult:
Dwarven helm
Gano top/bottom (I sub in a virtus robe bottom as they're so cheap nowadays)
dragon boots
dragon defender
berserker (i), or tokkul-zo (I'm using d stone (i))
Darklight for specs
Zamorakian spear
Mith xbow
50 emerald bolts
Aegis or Vampryism aura (or other best aura)
Ardy cape 3/4

If you have turmoil/overloads this setup is workable with just normal vials. If not, then flasks are the way to go to improve your chances for survival. Ability to soul split flick is essential. Switching to zammy spear/stun core 1/2 way through the kill is going to be used here as you don't have divine/ely lowering inbound damage.

No joke, I even pulled out a 0-food corp solo using this ghetto setup . I guess a divine really isn't necessary, huh?

Good lucks guys on soloing corp
