so my old dual shock controller's x button is having problems it wont do anything unless I press down very hard is there a way to fix it, I don't have any money for a new one

You could always try opening it and checking to make sure there isn't anything obstructing the button when you press down. If this isn't the case the only thing I could suggest is if you have an old PS2 controller laying around replace the rubber part on your PS3 controller with the rubber part from the PS2 controller.
