have you tried to hold the power and home button at the same time

Bring it to a friends house and restore and update it there. Works 100% because I did that with mine when I had the iPod 3rd Generation:D

Yep, that was the second thing i did, first thing i tried was restoring it

That might not work for me. My iPod is a 2nd gen.
