See if you like the V-Moda LP2. It's a full-size headphone, but its durability, design, and nice case make it pretty portable. It also has replaceable faceplates, so you can customize them to make them EVEN COOLER. I know that's what all the youngsters are into today.

There are tons of options that are less expensive, though. Check out the guide in the OP. I'll try and update that tonight since there have been tons of updates. I'll get on that now.

Updated the OP with the latest revision of my headphone guide. I made quite a few updates, which included more headphones, more accurate prices, more tags, and some small corrections.

The Sennheiser HD 25-1 II is awesome for rock. They're not open, and if you need open cans, the Grado SR125i is a good option. Keep in mind that they have almost no bass and instead focus on fantastic mids and highs. Still, I wouldn't really call them portable.

If you want an IEM, the Hifiman HE262 is perfect for you. I don't know of anything better to recommend you for rock at this price point, frankly. Check out the guide in the OP if you want to see some cheaper or alternative options!
