This will work on A4 Devices running iOS 5.1 (iPod Touch3G, iPod Touch4G, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPad 1, iPad 2, iPhone 4S)
Will not work on 4.12.01 Baseband. (thank you jfss111)
Jailbreak as usual with redsn0w > http://www.redsn0w.us/2010/03/download-direct-links-jailbreak-guides.html < and boot tethered.
Now open cydia (if first time it may take a few minutes to partition your device for packages) then in cydia go to Manage-Sources-Edit(top right)-Add(top left) and type:
gttp://thebigboss.org/semitether
This should give you the repo you need, after that search for sources and type "semitether" and chose the one from bigboss repo. Install that and restart springboard as prompted (not reboot device). On your icon grid you should have an app called semi-tether.
This makes it more stable than a tethered jailbreak and will allow use of (some) jailbreak features.
Post if you have problems. I will help/adress it when i have time :-)

Nope, but i know it works- and for newcomers it is easy to use and may save installation of fake malicious jailbreak software
