Well so far nobody is too sure what you can do if your regular and premium because challenges are not available yet. You can in fact participate in a clan but you wont give that clan a 500xp boost when you first join. Eventually there should be operations and events that will be available for clans and some SHOULD be free trial operations and events. But like I said since none of that is available yet there is no certain answer.
