Hello everyone I need a little help as my jtag keeps failing to boot with an e79 error. It was working fine all the way until Thursday after trying to play a game of mw3. I Never had any problems with it except for those occasional e79`s that zephyrs often get. However this time its not that occasional error this time I just can not get it to boot restart after restart and it still wont boot? So I went out and redid the regular jtag connection and it worked for a few times then again e79 redid it a few more times and it wouldn't work? So I gave up that is until this morning when I went out to buy the parts needed for the aud_clamp method and it worked all the way to the point were I put the case back on it and it died again. Then I did the aud and dvd method but still no luck please help!

If you change the wiring, you need to actually reflash xell with the new smc settings. Use jtag tool. In images, there is one called Aud_clamp & dvd tray. I've been using that method and it works great. You do have to choose the aud_clamp & dvd tray in smc settings though. Boot xell after that and it should work then create another freeboot image. I'm not sure if you need the last step.
I had a falcon come in with a persistent e79 and fixed it like that. I'm also newer than alot of these guys to jtagging but I hope this helps and hopefully someone else can shed some more light on it for you.
Basically, just rejtag it with the new smc settings is what I was saying ugh, its late. Good night everyone..
EDIT:Forgot to say.. That boxxdr method you linked to looks awesome! I've had great luck with the diodes and aud_clamp dvd tray method though so haven't tried it yet.

I have already made the new freeboot image for both just the aud_clamp and for the aud_clamp and dvd tray but still no luck after flashing and rebooting? I got it to turn on once right after I installed the aud_clamp and flashed the image for just the aud but it stopped working after 3 successful boots however no luck with both the aud and dvd

have you tried reflashing it to its original nand? also it could be a cold solder point or your connections are touching the bottom metal case.

I flashed the original nand and it worked without a problem it seems it might be the wiring but the question is why did it keep booting with the freeboot nand until I placed the case on it? When I put the case back on it just wouldn't turn on so I took it off and it gave me e79 again?

It does seem something is shorting out. Cover everything with electrical tape or similar. Make sure your wiring the diodes to the correct points and the diodes are the correct way as well. Easy mistake to make.
I solder the diodes so they are flat on the board then use electrical tape over them. Works great.
EDIT:And make 100% sure you selected the correct smc setting in jtag tool or whatever you're using.
