Developed by Crystal Dynamics, the platform game series starring an anthropomorphic gecko called Gex comprised of three releases: 1995’s Gex, 1998’s Gex: Enter the Gecko and 1999’s Gex 3: Deep Cover Gecko.
The games are being brought to Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S and Steam using Limited Run Games’ Carbon Engine, a development tool that helps create emulation-based ports of classic games for modern hardware.
A release window for Gex Trilogy has yet to be announced.
Last year, a demo for what may have been planned as a Gex sequel surfaced online. The Gex Jr demo, which was posted to YouTube by user justz00t, was added to Archive.org by someone who found it on an old CD-R.
According to the user who posted the demo to the archival website, the CD-R it was found on was dated January 25, 2001.
On Wednesday, Limited Run Games also announced the Jurassic Park Classic Games Collection for modern consoles.
It said the Carbon Engine will be used to add new features to ‘90s releases Jurassic Park and Jurassic Park Part 2: The Chaos Continues, including save states, in-game maps, and various quality-of-life fixes.
