EA Sports PGA Tour Has Been Delayed, But Early Access Is On The Way

Publisher Electronic Arts and developer EA Tiburon's upcoming golf game, EA Sports PGA Tour, has been delayed from its previously announced March release date to Friday, April 7, to coincide with the Masters Tournament, one of the four major professional golf championships.

The game will also offer a 3-day early access period for those who purchase the deluxe edition, allowing them to begin playing on April 4.

"This small shift in release date allows us to add a few final touches to the game that we are very excited to deliver to all of you," the announcement reads, explaining the reason for the delay and what players can expect," including updates to some favorite courses to reflect 2023 designs.

PGA Tour focuses on providing players with a realistic golfing experience through three critical elements: Fluid swing mechanics, innovative ball behavior, and lifelike course dynamics, and these three aspects fall under the umbrella of a new concept called Pure Strike.

As the name suggests, it is a system that ensures that each shot is pure, authentic, and unique, thanks to the integration of Shotlink, a platform that provides real-time scoring and statistical data on each shot, as well as data from Trackman Golf, which professional players use to analyze and improve their swings.

In PGA Tour, players can access 20 different shot types and encounter multiple factors that mimic the swings of professional golfers, providing a challenging and realistic golfing experience. These factors include the distance the club is taken back, the speed of the forward or backswing, and the direction of the swing.

In addition, the animation of the swing plays a critical role, and various aspects of the environment, such as wind and elevation, can affect the swing and can also be adjusted in a variety of ways.

EA Sports PGA Tour is now available for pre-order on multiple platforms including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC (Steam, Epic), and through the EA App. The Standard Edition includes the base game and pre-order bonuses such as the Players Gear, Grand Slam Gear Bundle, and Scotty Cameron Putter.

The Deluxe Edition also includes the 3-day early access period, early access to Augusta National, 1500 PGA Tour Points, an XP bundle, Masters Gear, and a standard edition of the Madden NFL 23 game.

There will also be a third Pro Edition available exclusively on the EA App that includes everything from the previous editions plus an exclusive EA Play staff bag. All EA Play members will also be able to unlock additional bonuses for EA Sports PGA Tour with monthly drops of Pro Shop perks such as exclusive headwear, shirts, hats, and more.
