Respawn CEO Vince Zampella and Particle City CEO Larry Pacey—head of the studio developing the Titanfall: Assault mobile RTS game—recently sat down with GameSpot to discuss the future of the Titanfall brand. A large portion of the conversation was dedicated to the mobile game, but Zampella was eventually asked if Titanfall 2 players can expect more from the main game in a scope similar to the new Frontier Defense co-op mode, now that the Titanfall 2 Ultimate Edition has launched.
According to the CEO, Respawn has its focus on its next endeavors. “Probably not,” Zampella responded. “We want to work on new stuff.”
While this may be disappointing for Titanfall 2 fans, it could prove promising for Titanfall fans in general. When GameSpot asked Zampella about Titanfall 2‘s surprisingly strong community—this despite its poor sales—the CEO expressed that the studio intends to keep the franchise going, hinting that the “new stuff” the studio wants to work on is already underway. “There’s some other things we’re doing that haven’t been announced just yet, but we’re heavily invested in the Titanfall universe.”
Whether this means Titanfall 3 or something smaller remains to be seen, but either way, Titanfall 2 fans shouldn’t expect the shooter’s stream of free content to stop just yet. This is partly due to Titanfall 2 recently hitting Origin Access, providing new opportunities for Titanfall 2 to get the recognition it deserves.
