Xbox hardware revenue decreased 33%, mainly due to a decline in consoles sold and lower prices of consoles sold. Xbox Live revenue increased 4%, driven by higher volume of transactions and revenue per transaction.
The firm noted that Xbox Live monthly active users (MAU) grew 33% year-over-year to 49 million. That’s a 3 million uptick in MAU since the firm announced its Q3 2016 results noting 46 million Xbox Live users.
Q4 revenue in the More Personal Computing sector, which includes Xbox products, declined 4% to $8.9 billion.
For the full year, the More Personal Computing sector reported revenue decreased $346 million or 4%, due to lower revenue from Devices and Gaming. Devices and gaming also included Surface and other products.
For Q4 of fiscal year 2016 year, Microsoft reported company wide revenue of $20.6 billion, a 7% year-over-year decline, with net income of $3.1 billion.
Full year revenue was $85.3 billion and net income reported was $16.8 billion.
