Far Cry 7 Might Be Set in Alaska – Report

4.3
At least two publications have confirmed that Far Cry 7 and a standalone Far Cry multiplayer game are both in development at Ubisoft. According to Insider Gaming, both games were one project but early on in development, they were split into two games. Kotaku has corroborated the report, adding that Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot mentioned both games internally as recently as last week.

Far Cry 7 will reportedly be single-player
The next mainline Far Cry will apparently be a single-player game with no multiplayer elements like co-op. Instead, Ubisoft plans to release the multiplayer game that Insider Gaming recons will be set in Alaska. Insider Tom Henderson claims that Far Cry multiplayer game was pitched as an extraction-based shooter set in the Alaskan wilderness. Since both games were once the same project, Far Cry 7 will presumably maintain the Alaskan setting.

According to Kotaku‘s sources, Far Cry 7 will drop the Dunia Engine for Snowdrop – the engine used for The Division 2 and Ubisoft’s upcoming Star Wars game. Apparently, Ubisoft has been eyeing a Far Cry multiplayer game for a number of years, but those ideas were either cancelled or incorporated into other projects.

Insider Gaming claims to have seen screenshots of both games, and understands that Far Cry multiplayer game will feature loot chests and extraction zones.

CalicoReidso sounds like an interesting setting, but I will always love the first Far Cry

I love the second and third Far Cry's. I never played the first one though! I actually didn't know it was first brought out for the 360 to be honest. I saw it on the marketplace and just assumed it was backwards compatible.

Runts That actually sounds awesome but I think they should stop making these games now. Maybe try somthing new or different.

To be honest... I just wish they would have a kick-ass story again like in the earlier days.
If they could get that right and take time over the games it could have been an incredible series...

Seems to have taken a similar path to Assassin's Creed unfortunately

It sounds like a very cool setting, but it's not enough to breathe life into this franchise.
It seems to me that they just repaint the same ideas every couple of years...
Far Cry 2-3 were really, really good games though!
