Looking at today’s announcement trailer, it’s hard to say. There’s certainly enough crossover between the two games, with My Hero Ultra Rumble also presenting itself with a third-person over-the-shoulder camera. From there things diverge as characters use their quirks over an arsenal of guns and bombs. Deku uses powerful strikes and his Blackwhip ability to sling Spider-Man style from place to place, while Bakugo’s explosive sweat translates into a number of different ranged and AOE attacks.
It seems My Hero Ultra Rumble will have quite a few Academia characters. We get to see a lot of class 1A in the trailer, including Todoroki, Uraraka, and Asui, UA teachers such as All Might and Cementoss, and even a pro hero in Mt. Lady. There’s also going to be several villains as well, with Shigaraki, Toga, and Dabi all seen in the trailer, and all of them unleashing their quirks with reckless abandon.
My Hero Ultra Rumble will support up to 24 players on a single map to start, with eight teams of three fighting it out. The game’s official site confirms each character will fall into one of three different classes, including Assault, Support, or Disruption, and it’ll be up to the three players to create a well-balanced team.
The official site also gives players the opportunity to sign up for the closed PS4 beta test. My Hero Ultra Rumble will eventually release on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.
