Synopsis

Can you deliver your passengers to their destinations in record time? If you want to make any money, you'd better be quick on the draw in this inventive sequel. Taking place in New York City, CRAZY TAXI 2 stars four new drivers: Hot-D, Slash, Iceman, and Cinnamon. Each driver has a unique personality and driving style, making for extremely varied gameplay. The taxis are each outfitted with hydraulics this time out, allowing you to hop over anything that gets in your way.

Gameplay

In Crazy Taxi 2 the objective is to pick up one, or a few, passengers and take them to their designated destination before the time limit hits zero. There are eight different characters to choose from each with their own unique customized taxi. There are also several different cities to choose from that are all based around New York City.

Each person standing out on the street will have a different color circle with a dollar sign in the middle floating above their head. The green colored circle means that person wants to travel the furthest, yellow means it's mid-range, and red means the distance is very short or close. Naturally, the further the distance and the quicker you get there, the more money you will make. Some customers will even have bonuses (tips) they will give you if you can reach their destination in a certain time. This time will be above their head once they are in the vehicle.

This second installment of the Crazy Taxi series brought several new features to it as well including the jump, which allows your taxi to jump over obstacles if need be, four new characters each with a new vehicle, and the ability to carry multiple customers at once, each needing to reach their destination in the allotted time.

Graphics

The graphics are really good in this game and bring a new level to racing style games. They have been greatly improved from the original with a new engine, sharper and clearer environments, and more detailed vehicles, humans, and buildings. Frames run extremely well with their being a lot of action and a very quick game making it a very smooth running game. The only unappealing thing you will notice is the background. It is very pixelated and looks rather ugly. It is just a mush of colors in the distance that attempt to look like cities, but is just rather obnoxious.

Controls

Since it is a racing game, technically, the controls are very simple and playing requires very few buttons that need pressing. The right trigger will control the gas pedal, the left trigger will control the breaks and ability to go reverse, however, a button will be needed to switch the "gear" from B (breaks) and R (reverse) and the analog will control the steering wheel. Very easy game to learn as soon as you start it.
