Synopsis

The ultimate action-packed racing game designed specifically for the PlayStation! Race remote-controlled toy cars AND boats around a theme park in four challenge courses.

State-of-the-art racing engine designed by expert PlayStation programmers. RC boats will now join the Remote Control cars of the original game! An enchanting Movie Theme World to race around, - including Scary Haunted Houses, Futuristic Moon Bases, Lost Inca Temples, a Monster Invasion Zone, and a Zany Cartoon World. All new weapons including the Shock-Wave, Bouncing Mines and the awesome Ultimate Weapon. Introduction of water-specific and hybrid tracks (boats can race against cars). Handbrake feature gives the player ability to power-slide or perform super-tight turns. Choose from ten standard cars. New vehicles gained by completion of challenge cups and by setting track records. 5 bonus vehicles each with their own special power up. Bonus vehicles have equivalent boat version. Multi-Player Action-2-player split screen racing option. Up to eight cars racing on screen at any given time. Updated Track editor with both auto complete and random complete options, allowing player infinite combination of tracks to race on.

Gameplay

In RC Revenge there are four different game modes and ten vehicle types to choose from; car or boat with a handful of variations and - Championship mode which is a tournament where you race against eleven other opponents through ten different tracks, Single Race where it's just a quick race and you can choose any vehicle you wish and how many opponents, Time Trial where to try to beat the allotted time, and Multi-player race where you and another player can race against ten opponents.

Each track has numerous weapons and perks you can pick up every so often a lot like other racing games. Their are traps, missiles, boost, and teleporters to name a few of the more lethal and important ones.

There is also a track editor that is very easy to use that allows you to edit any track you wish to your liking or, start from scratch and build your own and save it. Keep in mind, you can only use these tracks in single race and multi-player mode.

Graphics

Graphics are pretty good considering they are RC cars and boats and not actual cars. Very detailed and crisp looking as well as the tracks themselves are very nice. Though not everything is well designed. Some things will look very bland and boxy whereas others will have lots of detail. This depends on the maps. From beginning to end you notice the detailing go down slowly. Very colorful layout that will have you feeling like a child with not a very serious feel to it. Explosions from vehicles being destroyed is very nice as well for it's time and weapons being fired will leave tracers, surprisingly. Every now and than there will be some bad frame drops due to all of the action going on, especially if you manage to destroy a few opponents at once. Nothing too bad though that will make the game crash.

Controls

Very simple controls that surprisingly allow you to do a lot. With only about half the controller needed, you can do everything from hit the gas to change the camera angle without having to look away or re-position your hand. Even if you manage to screw it all up and get lost, with the hit of just one button, everything will realign back to the way it was, making it very easy to get out of a hot spot.
