Is it worth $20 more or is it not really much of a difference over a 4670k.

Definately not worth if you already have a 4670k, probably not worth if you don't have either seeing as its just a clock speed boost which you can get anyway from overclocking.

if the op is overclocking the 4690k has more chance to achieve higher clocks with the replacement thermals and you can push a lot more volts into the 4690k .

Yeah but who actually needs the performance increase gained by overclocking an i5?

I have the 4670k and I have used a pc with the 4690k and there isn't much of a difference
