Hey, I'm in need of some help.

I have a galaxy note 3 in white on a contract that I made back in November.

The contract is 24 months I think but after having it for several months now I rarely use it and it just sits in my draw. I use my iPhone 4S a lot more.

Now my question is, the note 3 is on a contract through O2, can I sell the phone on ebay and use the money to buy perhaps an iphone 5s?

I've seen these things about locked and unlocked phones, let's say I bought an iphone 5s locked to O2, could the seller then report his phone stolen and get the phone I bought locked? Should I look out for an unlocked phone? I don't really understand this and what could happen and is it even legal to sell a phone on contract?

Thanks for any help.

Answer: Yes

To unlock an iPhone 5S is expensive just saying.

The phone isn't on contract, It's just your sim the contract relates to. You can sell the phone if you want. As far as buying phones that are locked that just means they can only be used on the network they are locked to. I.E O2 Phone = O2 Sim Card. If the phone was unlocked it just means that you can use any sim card in it.

Yeah it will work as it's only a contracted sim.

Yes the seller could do that if they wanted to, unfortunately. Since you will be paying close to full price for one anyway look for an unlocked phone.
As far as legality is concerned i'm not really sure. As long as you are still paying your bill you should be good.
