Synopsis:
In a lush of diabolical danger where everyone wants to eat you, you're the skinny guy with no weapons. Run, jump, hide, scramble and talk your way past the ugliest bunch of carnivorous crustaceans ever created. Unlock Abe's special powers then figure out your foes, and you might save your race. Don't, and you're dinner! Enter Oddworld's surreal, sensory overload of pure gaming and claim your destiny

Plot:
You are a prisoner at a place called Rupture farms until you stumble upon the next recipe for their food which is you. (well your race) You have to find a way to escape Rupture farms whilst saving all of your Mudokon friends on the way. When you slip off the edge of a cliff you have a vision of a guy called big face in which he sends you on a quest to gain spiritual powers (which you gain from the Bigface when he gives you 2 scars, one on each hand which resembles the paramites and the scarabs) to save all of your friends in Rupture Farms.

Gameplay:
Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee is a 2D game in which you control a character called Abe in which you must escape Rupture Farms whilst saving all of your friends. You can control your by chanting whilst making sure there is no way for your enemies to kill you in the process i.e standing on top of a platform which is out of their way. You can then use them to do things which you can't do like for example killing your enemies. There are a variety amount of enemies you will encounter throughout the game the main one being sligs. You can also you a things like rocks and meat which you can find in netting which dangles down from the top of a platform, you can use these to destroy mines or distract certain enemies, which you can control by chanting.

Graphics:
The graphics of Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee are about as good as your gonna get in the year 1997 in my opinion as for me everything was just so detailed for the time it was made in. The cut scenes as well was just like watching an animated film. The best part of the game that has got to have the best graphics in the game would be the cut scenes because as I said before it's like watching an animated movie everything is so clearly though out and detailed and it was definitely really great for its time. Also the background through out the game of Oddworld were just amazing it made playing the all the more better.

Controls:
The main controls like moving, jumping and chanting are all really simple and easy to remember controls. I could see how some people might find the controls for the other commands like saying hello or goodbye confusing since you have to remember the right button for them but once you get into it, it shouldn't be too hard to remember. When you have to talk into the machines with the sligs or to other mudokons to get special chants that could be the worst part of the game for you if you find it had to remember what buttons are which to speak so most of the time it could be just trial and error until you get it right.

My Ratings:
Plot:8/10
Gameplay:9/10
Graphics:8/10
Controls:9/10
Overall:9/10
