So, I've finally sold my old PC, for 275GBP. I've had my eye set on a 780, this one to be precise [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] , and I might be able to just afford it with some extra funds I have.

My question is, for a 1080p monitor, which one will be better (the 770 of the 780)? It may seem like a bit of a stupid question, but I don't want to purchase something that won't be of much use to me on my 1920x1080 60Hz monitor.

I want it to be able to be future proof (be able to play future games at a good FPS, maybe get a higher resolution monitor) so from that it looks like the 780 will be better, but I'm not sure. I want a second opinion.

I'm going to be playing Battlefield 4, Crysis 3 and games like that. Demanding games. So I just want to know if it will be worth the extra 100GBP for the 780 over the 770. It seems like it would be, but I'm not too sure.

Thanks.

So, question: Would it be worth the extra 100GBP for the 780 over the 770 on 1080p 60hz? I want a solid FPS.

I need a new GPU, since I'm currently rolling my HD 4600 graphics.

well the 780 is better so at 1080p it would still be better,
and future proofing may only let it last for about a year or 2 maybe.

Do you think you want the 780 more? If you have that money set aside for your computer only and you can live comfortably as well after buying the more expensive card do that.

I run a 770 on one 1080p monitor for gaming, with another auxiliary monitor for forums and videos and it runs fine for me. If you have other upgrades you could do, you could look at the 770 and SLI it when the new cards come up which should bring prices down.

I don't really have any other upgrades to do.
I have an SSD, 8GB of RAM, a 650w PSU, I've overclocked my i5, got all the storage I need. Maybe a new KB and mouse is in order, but I'm fine with the ones I have now.
I need to purchase BF4, that's about it.

I also just game on one monitor and have the other for videos and other general things.
I saved up some money for a new GPU, and selling my old PC so I would still be able to live fine.

Well then you've pretty much made your mind up then. I'd say GTX780 if you can afford it. Yes the GTX770 is enough but why does anyone upgrade when most parts "will do", its because we want to.

Grab the GTX780 and revel in its magnificence, and its high resale value if you change your mind.
