Synopsis

MLB 11: The Show introduces new features including pure analog controls and co-op play.

Gameplay

The graphics kind of looked like they took the last game and changed a few things. But to there defense the PS2 doesn't have the same graphics capabilities as the newer PS3. The game modes haven't changed all that much. In Create-a-Player, more batting stances and pitchers windups have been added accordingly for new players. The bright white font on the menu is kind of an eye sore so you may have to tune down the brightness on your T.V. a few notches. The gameplay is very immersive and gives you the down-to-earth experience that has been trademark of the earlier versions of the game. The announcers that do the play-by-play stay the same except for Rex Hudler who is replaced by former Dodgers first basemen Eric Karros. All in all the game is pretty much the same with a few minor changes. [font]

Graphics

[font=Georgia] Either way, the issues are VERY minor. This game is much like '10, but it is now polished. The graphics are still stunning. If you are NOT a big baseball fan, you won't notice a huge difference between '10 and '11. However, if you didn't have '10 or if you just love the absolute realism this game brings to the table to the point you honestly feel like a part of the game, then you won't regret this purchase.

Controls

This mode has the classic X, O, Square, and Triangle controls and a new analog set of controls in which you only use the analog sticks to play. I personally prefer the classic controls because it is clear where you are throwing as opposed to the new analog controls in which you have to push it exactly to the right spot or else you might accidentally throw to the wrong base. But aside from the controls the game also features throw canceling, a new contact swing in addition to the power and basic swing and many other things.

All in all, the show is a great baseball game to own for any fan I enjoy this one more because of roster changes occurring, of course because of real life. Franchise mode is addicting, if taking over a team is your forte, and RTTS has made it a bit easier to build up your player. As a fan, there's no better feeling than watching highlights of a victory achieved. The Show may become a victim of its success, but if it isn't broken, don't fix it.
