Developed by: Club Penguin Entertainment (formerly New Horizon Interactive)
Release Date: October 24, 2005
Genre: MMORPG
ESRB: E

Synopsis:
Club Penguin is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) involving a virtual world containing a range of online games and activities, by Club Penguin Entertainment (formerly New Horizon Interactive). Players use cartoon penguin-avatars and play in a winter-set virtual world. After beta-testing, Club Penguin was made available to the general public on October 24, 2005 and has since expanded into a large online community growing to the extent that by late 2007, it was claimed that Club Penguin had over 30 million user accounts. While free memberships are available, revenue is predominantly raised through paid memberships which allow players to access a range of additional features, (such as the ability to purchase virtual clothing, furniture, and in-game pets called "puffles" for their penguins through the use of in-game currency). The success of Club Penguin led to New Horizon being purchased by The Walt Disney Company in August 2007 for the sum of 350 million dollars, with an additional 350 million dollars in bonuses should specific targets be met by 2009.

Gameplay:
The game starts out with you creating your penguin, they have around 15 different colors you can choose from and you choose your name (username and penguin name). After creating your penguin and confirming your or your parents email, you pick a server. All the servers are created by Developers, so none are private. All the servers have different snowy or christmasy names like, Snowball, Green Forest, and Snowflake. There are around 60 different servers you can choose from. All of them are the same practically, just different players. You start off in the spawn which has a nightclub, coffee shop, and a few other shops, some hidden some in plain sight. Since the beginning of Club Penguin (when I started late 2005), the land has expanded from a small spawn and an ice rink. It now has ski resorts, police departments, and even a pizza parlor. Most people love to do a role playing game by being the pizza maker and then some customers. The sledding game is probably the most popular, you race down a hill either by yourself or up to 4 people. You have to avoid obstacles and go off jumps. The free membership gets boring as you can earn money; but can't spend it. If you buy premium you get too earn money easier and you can buy accessories for you penguin or even furniture for your house.
