So all this blacklivesmatter bullshit has been ticking me off lately. There was a member of it who said, "Ok I've come to the conclusion that what happened in Nice was to make people lose attention off #BlackLivesMatter and focus and unite against us

I really wish sometimes that this world could just get hit by an asteroid. I really also wish people could stop worrying about blacklivesmatter and worry about more important things.

Just because you don't view it as important doesn't mean it isn't important. There are unreasonable people in just about every group out there. The idea behind Black Lives Matter is great though. That statement doesn't mean "only black lives matter" or "black lives matter more." It means "black lives matter, too." Throughout history and even recently, it hasn't seemed like our society has treated them like they do matter the same as everyone else. There are people out there in the group that say unreasonable things like you gave an example to and even those that wish harm on police officers or think we should get rid of police, but I don't think we should let those people hijack what I think is a reasonable movement (that is, of course, unless I somehow missed some new information that came out.)

I'm saying I don't run around saying "white lives matter" even though more white people die than black people from cops. No one is going around saying black lives don't matter besides the occasional fastly fading racist. All lives matter, it doesn't matter if you're white, black, Asian, Mexican, native, German, Russian, it just doesn't matter. All lives matter, don't start movements saying "black lives matter", that's pretty racist in my mind. Hell I've always wanted to walk the streets with a banner saying white lives matter and see how many people join me.

The event in Nice has nothing to do with BLM who is saying that the even in Nice was a divergent to BLM lol? Thats the dumbest thing ive heard in the past few days.

I dont hate BLM but I just find it a bit ridiculous that we need to be reminded that black lives matter? Like no shit, do you think im stupid? NO ONE goes around saying black lives dont matter, I find it a bit insulting that you would think that I think they dont matter? BLM does some pretty stupid shit like chant "what do we want? dead cops" or block intersections and major highways.. that doesnt do anything but make me dislike your cause. There are more effective ways of going about activism. Oh well what do I know, im just a regular person.

I think some people here misunderstand what black lives matter actually is and what it stands for.

Nobody is arguing that more black people are killed by the police than white people because that simply isn't true.

However,

According to [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] there's 321,418,820 people living in America and only 13% of them are black compared to the 77% white. Meaning that there are almost six times more whites in America than blacks (I assume there's more than six if we were to take Asians and Hispanics into the equation).

This basically means that you would assume (if both genders were treated equal) that the number of blacks people being shot would be almost six times less than the number of white people being shot. This however, is not the case. I could use loads of different statistics to back this up but I'll use this one from The Washington Post.

Police have shot and killed a young black man (ages 18 to 29) such as Michael Brown in Ferguson, Mo. 175 times since January 2015; 24 of them were unarmed. Over that same period, police have shot and killed 172 young white men, 18 of whom were unarmed. Once again, while in raw numbers there were similar totals of white and black victims, blacks were killed at rates disproportionate to their percentage of the U.S. population. Of all of the unarmed people shot and killed by police in 2015, 40 percent of them were black men, even though black men make up just 6 percent of the nations population.

It's extremely hard to disagree when the facts are right infront of you. Black people are far more likely to be shot by the police than white people when you take the percentages of population they hold into consideration.

Black Lives Matter are not trying to say that Black lives matter more than white, but merely that they should be valued equally and that black males shouldn't be five times more likely to be shot by the police than white males.

To be honest, I think the whole black lives matter is a good thing. It shows the amount of police in America abusing their power and who are blatantly racist and I don't see how that can be a bad thing.

As Qwel also said, the Nice Truck attack has absolutely nothing to do with Black Lives Matter, so you should really change the title to Black Lives Matter rant.

The idea that you think that people shouldn't care that black males are five times more likely to be shot by police than white males is extremely disturbing to me.

Actions of one person do not equal that of the whole group

Generalizing is stupid.

Nobody ever said all lives don't matter. BLM is saying they matter too. Are you saying it's wrong for me to say BLM? Are you going to get offended by that? Annoyed? Because we're not saying all lives matter?

People scream Blue Lives Matter because innocent cops were killed yet refused to shout black lives matter when a innocent black man was killed. Then they all just ASSUME they have a criminal record every single time to justify that the killing wasn't wrong.

I see it as this, if you aren't in that position, you'll never understand no matter how hard you try. Using statistics won't change how people feel about their loved ones getting shot.
