When I first saw the trailers about Destiny pre-release, I thought it was going to be an amazing game. Well, it kinda didn't live up to the hype and I stopped playing after awhile. Recently, I picked it up again after a friend asked me to play it with him. Everything seemed a lot better. You have more customization now that armor doesn't affect your level in Destiny and the game was bumped up to 60 fps. But, I saw that they had put out more DLC (Taken King, House of Wolves, etc) and I was like "Ok I don't have $40 to put down on these right now, so I'll just max out my character while I wait." It was a huge slap to the face when I found out that the game is practically unplayable once you reach level 34. You can't play any of the nightfalls anymore and you get only one shitty level 20 strike playlist. So there's no chance for you to get any better gear. In crucible there are only 3 game modes, but it sucks because people who bought the DLC have an advantage over you because they're able to get all the new gear that you can't get.

I basically paid $60 for an incomplete game, and now I have to put down another $40 just so I can continue playing. Wtf why? I get that Bungie wants people to buy DLC, what developer wouldn't? But, taking away features that some people might have PAID for and making the game unplayable is a really crooked way of enticing people to spend their money. I wish I could say that companies will realize that people don't like what they're doing and fix it, but they won't. They only care about whats in my wallet. Truly a shame. :/

The thing is that you own the year one version of the game. I never played that version of the game. I bought the Taken King version of the game. The reason that you are required to buy the DLC is because the entire game has shifted to "Year 2". Without that year two content, you can only do the year one activities.

I really wouldn't use the argument of "I spent 60$ on a game", because that was 2 years ago. The new content is well worth the price that you can get it at (Most of the time amazon has the TTk version of the game for 40$).

I know you stated that you don't have the 40$, but the intentions of the DLC were well known before the game was released.

Long story short, you knew what you were buying into when the game came out. DLC was part of the announcement.

Of course DLC was part of the announcement, what game nowadays doesn't have DLC? The way they've handled the DLC for Destiny is simply crooked. You've failed to see my point, they did it this way so that you're FORCED to buy the new DLCs because it's profitable. Nobody thought their game would be unplayable if they didn't purchase every new DLC. They've even gone as far as making previous DLC features, such as trials of Osiris from house of wolves, obsolete without TTK. That's something people PAID for yet they took it away from you if you don't have TTK.

There aren't that many differences between year one and year two. The whole concept just doesn't make sense. They could have just implemented the new improvements to the year one version and then add in the new game modes and features. Why should I need new maps for new game modes?

You said that $40 was a good price for the DLC. So far the DLCs have come with a couple of missions, some strikes, and a raid. Nobody really cares for the missions, you play them once and that's it. Maybe a couple times for for the daily heroic mission. People only play the strike and the raid because they want the gear. That's all DLC offers in this game, they're replayable. Is that really worth $40?

You're not forced to buy it.You choose to buy it. The content added, in my opinion, is completely worth the $40. Why? Because it gives me something new to do instead of 4 new maps for $20 over on Call of Duty. If you don't want to pay, then don't. But you'd be missing out. They're expansion packs for a reason. It's not just new missions, strikes and a raid.

I don't play Destiny simply because I don't have the time for it. But every time there's something new, I don't mind paying $40 to keep up with everyone else.

Be glad they aren't putting out a game every year and making you pay $60.
